CHANDIGARH/SHIMLA: NCR districts of Gurgaon, Faridabad and Rohtak continue to be hotspots for new Covid cases, as Haryana reported 624 new cases on Friday and 424 recoveries during the day. Meanwhile, Himachal Pradesh has reported five cases and seven recoveries. While Punjab recorded 29 cases on Friday, bringing its total to 7,59,565.
In Haryana, only three districts – Sirsa, Mahendergarh and Nuh – could retain the label of Covid-free districts. Active cases have reached 2,415, of which only 35 are hospitalized. Gurgaon reported the highest 485 cases, followed by 101 from Faridabad, eight from Rohtak, four from Karnal, three from Bhiwani, two from Sonipat, Ambala, Kurukshetra and Rewari districts. While one case each has been reported in Hisar, Panipat, Yamunangar, Jind and Jhajjar districts respectively.
Himachal has 2,84,797 confirmed positive cases including 60 active cases, 2,80,603 patients have recovered while 4,115 patients have died. Reported positive cases include three from Kangra district, one from Shimla district and one from Una district. Those recovered include one from Chamba district, three from Kangra district, one from Kullu district, one from Sirmaur district and one from Una district.
In Punjab, the total number of Covid deaths remained at 17,748. There were a total of 181 active Covid cases in the state on Friday and the positivity rate was recorded at 0.27%. As many as 476 new positive Covid cases and four Covid deaths have been recorded in Punjab this month. Meanwhile, Haryana’s cumulative Covid count has risen to 9,92,018 cases, 9,78,961 recoveries, 10,619 deaths. While the daily positivity rate was recorded at 3.95% and the recovery rate further decreased to 98.68% and the case fatality rate remained stable at 1.07%.
On the immunization front, 38,405 people were vaccinated in Haryana, the first dose was given to 13,570 people while the second dose was given to 19,583 people. 5252 received the booster dose.
