Canon launches new sheet-fed color printer

Canon Australia has launched a new cut-sheet digital color press, the imagePress V1000which she says is designed to overcome the day-to-day production challenges faced by commercial and in-house print service providers.

Performance: Canon imagePress V1000

The new device incorporates “progressive” technological features and “increased performance”, establishing it as the next generation in the evolution of the imagePress family. The V1000 falls into the light-heavy segment, with an average monthly print volume of up to 600,000 prints per month and a duty cycle of 1.2 million prints.

The V1000 is designed “to tackle the most innovative applications” on a wide range of media types and weights from 52 to 400 gsm at speeds of up to 100 ppm. According to Canon, the imagePress V1000 “allows print professionals to quickly execute a greater variety and volume of jobs without any compromise in quality or productivity”.

Among the innovations of the new V1000 is the option of the multi-drawer paper tray, which, in conjunction with the use of POD XL and bypass trays, increases the paper feeding capabilities of the engine.

Canon claims that with the new transfer technology, the engine ensures “even color distribution, with reduced risk of sticking when switching between weights on the fly”. New integrated Pod-Surf fusing technology controls the temperature of the fusing belt, delivering a consistent print speed of 100 ppm, with a wide range of media types and weights from 52 to 400 gsm, including synthetic and magnetic supports.

With the new two-step registration correction, the press has the ability to auto-duplex banner sheets up to 1.3m and up to 400gsm thick.

Canon says unplanned stops and slowdowns are “a thing of the past”, thanks to remote alerts that notify the operator if consumables are running low. Operators can change media, toner and dispose of waste toner while the press is running, maintaining engine productivity.

Ted Matsumoto, General Manager Product Marketing, Canon Australia comments: “The imagePress V1000 takes productivity to the next level and can handle a wide range of media. In response to the needs of our customers, we brought a fresh perspective to the design of digital toner presses, exploring innovative ways to solve everyday production challenges.

“This production printer will help print businesses work better and faster with more possibilities to offer their customers creative print products. Packed with features that overcome common print business challenges, the imagePress V1000 can handle a wider variety of print jobs and meet more demanding deadlines.By ensuring consistently high productivity and incorporating more automation for excellent print quality with minimal intervention, we free up operator time for our customers. This allows their expertise to be channeled towards creating greater value for customers and developing the business in new directions.”

The V1000 has a built-in spectrophotometric sensor, which the company claims saves time and reduces the skill level required for color control, by enabling calibration and adjustment at the push of a button, without offline quality checks. New two-step registration correction technology ensures “perfect” alignment every time, even on long sheets. Optional Sensing Unit automatically detects prints that do not match job registration and color settings, then adjusts and maintains those settings throughout the run, saving time and maintaining productivity .

The imagePress V1000 incorporates an innovative cooling system that cools paper immediately after fixing, for optimum quality, and minimizes the risk of wasted paper warping, sticking or bricking if a job is left unfinished.

An innovative approach to sheet transfer technology creates the optimal transport path for each sheet during the printing process, as the positions of the secondary transfer roller and backing sheet are variable and change based on media weight .

With what Canon says is the most compact footprint of any mid-volume digital production print engine, the imagePress V1000 design delivers 100ppm production capabilities in a footprint of less than 3m², which Canon says is “ideal for any print room where space is at a premium.

The imagePress V1000 has been awarded Epeat Gold by the Epeat Registry, the global rating system for greener electronics. Canon says that with the ability to perform a single test and reap the associated energy savings, the days of trial and error and wasted printing are over.

If the media in the drawer does not match the settings, the job can be stopped before printing, reducing waste, energy consumption and CO² emissions. Optional accessories that can be purchased separately include the Motor Sensing Unit, which performs back and forth registration adjustments on the fly, reducing the need for reprints, as well as Prismasync or EFI Fiery controllers, that allow operators to check every detail of the print job, including quality, and make real-time changes on the user interface before pressing the print button, further eliminating machine errors. unnecessary printing.

The new imagePress V1000 series will be available from Canon and its accredited partners from the end of June.
