HP Aims to Cover 5 Liter Farmers Under Kisan Credit Card Program | News from Shimla

Shimla: In Himachal Pradesh, 4.36 lakh farmers were covered by Kisan credit card (KCC) and a target to cover more than five lakh farmers under KCC has been set. This was informed at the meeting of the Chief Secretary Ram Subhag Singh with the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) President GR Chintala in Shimla on Thursday.
He was informed during the meeting that in the year 2021-22, the ground level credit flow to the priority sector was Rs 20,260.14 crore while the credit flow to the agricultural sector was of Rs 8855.60 crore under Nabard. In 2021-22, the realization achieved by Nabard under the annual credit plan remained at 77.98%.
In 2021-22, about Rs 7,296.17 crore of loans were disbursed as crop loan in the state and the estimated credit potential for 2022-23 was Rs 29,172 crore. The penalties have increased from Rs 510.59 crore in the financial year 2017-18 to Rs 1134.33 crore in the financial year 2021-22 for the state. In 2021-22, around Rs 1,134 crore was sanctioned under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) for various development projects including the establishment of poly-houses, cable cars and sanitation projects.
The chief secretary asked the officers of the various departments and Nabard to look into the constraints of the flow of credit to the agricultural sector. He also called for taking effective measures to strengthen Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) and Primary Weavers Cooperative Society (PWCS) in Himachal Pradesh.
