Infinitas hybrid charger helps BMW S55 engine develop 986 horsepower

Launched in 2009, the N55 inline-six powertrain became the S55 for previous generations of M3 and M4. The closed-axle block, lightweight crankshaft, twin fuel pumps, revised intercoolers, and dual-turbo setup were all the rage until recently because of the S58, which puts out 510 PS (or 503 horsepower) in M3s and M4 buck toothed.
The S55, however, is still relevant due to the aftermarket scene. From software calibrations to beefier internals, there are too many options to list here. The latest in the lot comes in the form of the hybrid charger from Infinitas, a German company from Gachenbach that promises up to 1,000 hp (986 hp) and a staggering 1,100 Nm (811 lb-ft) of torque.

SK3RR is the name of the high-end variant of the hybrid charger, which is priceless at the moment. The base option is € 6,998 or $ 8,310 at the current exchange rate, plus € 2,112 ($ 2,510) for installation, including value added tax. The lowest configuration is no mockery either thanks to 600 PS (592 hp), and best of all, it’s also the only hybrid charger currently available for recording with a TÜV report in Germany.

When it comes to how it actually works, the Infinitas Hybrid Charger can boil down to an additional supercharger that pre-compresses the air for the turbochargers. Pre-charge has multiple advantages over the S55, including reduced boost time, better response, and higher boost pressure. The next level up from the base SK1 is the SK2, which develops 700 hp (690 hp) and 900 Nm (664 lb-ft) of torque. The SK2CS and SK3 boast 800 and 900 metric ponies (which makes 789 and 888 horsepower).

As you would expect with a 3.0-liter displacement and straight-six, Infinitas recommends upgraded internals from the SK2CS. Quite obviously, the F87 M2 coupe is also hybrid charger compatible.
