Star Wars Art Imagines Fallen Order’s Cal Kestis Joining Canon Live-Action

Following calls for a Cal Kestis Disney+ series, fan artist Jason Benullo Design imagines the Star War Fallen Order character’s series poster.

A new piece of star wars fan art imagine Cameron Monaghan’s Cal Kestis Jedi: Fallen Order get your own live-action Disney+ series. Released in 2019, Fallen order is a single-player action game set in Star wars universe developed by Respawn Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts. Set five years after the events of Order 66, the game centers on the character of Cal Kestis, a former Jedi padawan who survived the initial Jedi purge and whose motion capture performance was recorded by Shameless and Gotham Monaghan. A sequel to the game Jedi: Survivor is also under development.

The Cal Kestis whispers of Monaghan possibly making their way into the live-action Star Wars universe made the rounds almost as soon as the original game was released. They were stepped up earlier this year when a BD unit, similar to Kestis’ BD-1 droid in the game, made its own live debut in Boba Fett’s Book. With the recent release of Obi Wan Kenobi The series, which featured many similar live-action elements from the game, including the appearance of Fortress Inquisitorius, calls for its move from the game world to the live-action canon only escalated. Unsubstantiated rumors that Monaghan is getting his own streaming show on Disney+ have also spread like wildfire throughout the fandom lately.

Recently, fan artist Design Jason Benullo took to Instagram to share his own take on what a teaser poster for a Cal Kestis series could look like. With Monaghan in his costume of fallen order, the fan poster also includes the droid BD-1 and a Jedi Holocron. Check out the original post below:

While Lucasfilm has clearly laid the groundwork to introduce elements of the Fallen order game in the live-action canon, it remains to be seen if Monaghan’s character will get the opportunity to appear on her own show. Although fans of the game know the character intimately and what he potentially has to offer to the wider star wars universe, there are also a lot more fans of the movies and shows that haven’t had a chance to be introduced to Cal Kestis yet. Any attempt to develop a show centered around his character will need to appeal to a much wider audience than just fans of the game.

Perhaps one of the biggest risks in developing a Cal Kestis series is the danger of retreading already familiar ground. The period of time between Revenge of the Sith and A new hope has been well covered by several films and series so far, including Rogue One, Solo: A Star Wars Story, Star Wars: Rebels, The Bad Batch, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and the next Andor series. A Cal Kestis series would most likely fall within the same time frame and risk oversaturating the era in Star Wars canon. Just as director Taika Waititi recently hinted, so “for the Star Wars universe to expand, it must expand”. Regardless, fans of the game will likely continue to keep their fingers crossed for more potential news from a Fallen order series.
